Microsoft says it’s marketed over 200 million Windows 8 licenses

Though Microsoft windows 8′s os business can safely be classified as anemic, especially when compared with how popular Microsoft windows seven and Microsoft windows XP keep be, that doesn’t mean that Microsoft has not marketed many duplicates of its polarizing, tile-based OS.

In fact, according to Microsoft Executive Vice Chief executive of Marketing Tami Reller (via ZDNet), the firm has marketed over 200 million Microsoft  windows 8 permits since the os was released on Oct 26, 2012.

“Windows 8 has exceeded 200 million permits marketed, and we keep see strength,” a Microsoft representative told ZDNet. “… Microsoft windows is a central part of life for more than 1.5 billion people around the world, and we are looking forward to the future.”

While 200 million revenue of anything is impressive, it’s well behind the pace of Microsoft windows seven. It took Microsoft 15 several weeks to sell 200 Microsoft windows 8 permits. Meanwhile, in just 12 several weeks, Microsoft was able to move 240 million permits of Microsoft windows seven, the reputation of which remains prominent. The 200 million figure is a “sell in” number, which includes revenue all notebooks and PCs marketed with Microsoft windows 8 pre-installed, along with stand-alone Microsoft windows 8 improvements.

Despite reaching the 200 million mark, it’s generously clear that Microsoft windows 8 has a long way to go if it hopes to achieve levels of reputation comparable to those experienced by two of its forerunners, Microsoft windows seven and Microsoft windows XP. Though a significant Microsoft windows 8 update is on the way, and should be available for download sometime in Goal or Apr, it’s uncertain whether that will be enough to significantly boost the OS’s business.
