Rumor: Google Working on Set-Top Box for 2014 release

Here we go. It was only a issue of your energy and effort before Google Android system signed up with the tv gossip activity. However, compared with Apple's iOS before it, the latest set of gossips around the Google massive don't have Google supposedly creating a actual tv set of its own.

No, it's just a set-top box that we're all postulating about. At least, that's the gossip that's been tossed out by the brand-new technical information website The Information (subscription required), which indicates that said set-top box — based on Android system, of course — will likely be available for purchase from Google in the first 50 percent of next year.

The system is said to be able to deal with a number of different loading services – think Hulu Plus, Blockbuster online, YouTube (obviously), etc — and give a buyer lounge accessibility some game playing as well. As for just how highly effective the set-top box will be, gaming-wise, we don't know (but we'd love to find out!)

The information reflects past gossips from the Walls Road Publication several weeks ago, which described at time that Google was also preparing to keep a digicam and movement indicator into the set-top box — presumably, to make Google Hangouts just that much simpler (and attack the thumbs at competing Skype, which currently loves lounge achievements as the de facto interaction support on Windows Console activity playing consoles).

The newest set of gossips don't clearly contact out this movement indicator by name, which gives us stop to wonder whether Google has rethought that part of the product.

The said buying screen dovetails perfectly with more information that Google is preparing a big Google TV statement at this seasons Customer Electronic gadgets Display. Furthermore, it comes right as Amazon is said to be creating its own set-top box as well, likely for launch in 2014 as well.

As for whether the claimed Google set-top box will be revealed at CES, we're not sure. We're also not sure what one might contact it. It's also said that Google will be rebranding this Web-friendly set-top box as "Nexus TV," an update from past gossips that had Google contacting the product "Android TV."

Were we to bet, however, we'd lay down a little bit of cash that Google is likely to declare up-dates to the primary Android system OS that abilities Google TV on the various gadgets the intelligent TV support lifestyles. It took the company quite a bit of your energy and effort to get its Android system 4.2.2 update for some of the Google TV products formerly trapped on Android system edition 3.2 of the OS (that's Jam vegetable compared to Honeycomb, for those that choose fantastic names). Hypothetically, the shift the Jam Bean now allows Google to update Google TV even faster – could a fast leap to KitKat be above as well?

While that might not please those looking for a elegant first look at Google dreams for the lounge, it's would at least be tossing a cuboid tissue to those who plunked down for Google other TV effort.
