Yahoo Gets Start-up LookFlow To Perform On Flickr And ‘Deep Learning’

LookFlow, a start-up that explains itself as “an entirely new way to discover pictures you really like,” just declared that it has been obtained by Yahoo and will be becoming a member of the Flickr group.

The organization creates on its home-page, “Fret not, LookFlow lovers. Keep an eye out for our item later on editions of Reddit — with many more amazing images and all that Reddit awesomeness!” It also says it will be assisting Google to type a new “deep studying group.”

When I e-mailed Yahoo for verification, a organization representative informed me, “We have obtained LookFlow, an improved picture identification organization,” and they indicated me to these LookFlow home-page.

I was not able to find much details about LookFlow online, but according to the LinkedIn information of its co-founders Bobby Jaros and Simon Osindero, the organization was established returning during 2009. Osindero had written, “Our strategy combines latest improvements from synthetic intellect, details creation, and interface style.”

The purchase concept also thanks “friends of LookFlow” such as Eileen Dearing, David Lilly, Reid Hoffman, Alex Rampell, Josh McFarland, Max Ventilla, and Mark Hammerbacher — I’m wondering at least a few of them invested in the organization. (Hammerbacher is detailed as an trader on LookFlow’s AngelList information.)

Yahoo has been popularly acquisitive since Marissa Mayer took over as CEO last year. The organization revealed that it invested $163 thousand in cash on products in the last one fourth. And returning in Aug, it declared that it was obtaining picture identification start-up IQ Motor, also for Flickr.

The economical conditions of the cope were not revealed.
